Our problem is that most of us don’t know what it is we want. Or we’ve forgotten what it is we want.
We lack clarity. We are so bogged down by other peoples’ agendas and the kids and the dogs and the boss and the parents and the pesky in-laws that our dreams became cloudy. Even for what we want today? We’re not sure.
The solution? Intention.
The solution, like always, begins with Intention, hand-written Intention. Yes, actually write it out. Who do we want to be today? Who needs me to be awesome today? What do we intend to do for this day? This month? This quarter? This year? There is power in intention.
Discover Confidence & Clarity through intention.
There is confidence in intention. There is clarity in intention. There is humor in intention. There is action behind intention. There is consistency behind intention. There is habit behind intention. There is self-respect behind intention. There are values behind intention. Intention is a damn powerful thing! And most people are not using its power to their Creative gain. This is why they feel stuck, even if things are good.
If you ain’ feeling’ it, explore that! What’s going on there?
Look, we are dynamic human beings, not static. We are all about change: biological change; physical change; mental and emotional change. Therefore, what you want will change! Even your values will change because you very likely do not value the same things today that you did ten years ago.
Well, you’re a different person! Of course, a few of your values will change. You’re hopefully becoming smarter, more enlightened, more others-focused vs. me-focused. If you’ve already got most of what you once wanted — which you outta be grateful for on a daily basis — maybe it’s time to go explore you again. Take a look at the inside, underneath the hood, and see what’s going on there.
# Always a Next. Always.
This brings me to one of my multi-year themes: *ask for help. It is NOT weak to ask for help. NO! In fact, asking for help is exactly what great leaders do.
Unless you’re wildly self-observant and/or self-aware, it will be really hard to deconstruct what is going on with you on your own. An Executive Coach or therapist can create the space for you to explore where you are now, and help you work toward next best actions. Like intentions, everything boils down to What’s next? What is next for you? What do you want now? By asking for help with it, you will discover the thing(s) far sooner rather than way later. You’ll get clarity. You’ll have greater intention about your day. And you will gain confidence through your consistent, intentional, actions.
Why spend another day in the muck of not knowing what’s wrong with you?
Why spend another day in the muck of not knowing what’s wrong? This is your life. Not the spouse’s. Not the parents’. Not the boss’s. Not the in-laws’. Not the doggies’. It’s Yours. Don’t you want that clarity that you deserve? Wouldn’t your family and fiends want that for you, too? Even your colleagues who you may / may not like?
If you know what you want, you’ll be 1,000x more productive and creative and solution-oriented. Which all makes you a far better colleague! It all starts with seeking that clarity for what it is you want now, and beginning your day with intention about what your day will be like.
