The Gym story is a story of Transformation.
The Gym Story is a story of Transformation.

Teach them what you know. Teach them early. Teach them often.

Encourage. Coach. Train. Study. Learn. And then turn around and teach it to cement it.

Nothing cements material in your brain quite like teaching it. And it turns out that teaching is good for you. It is good for your mind. It is good for your emotions. It is good for your spirit. It is good for your education.

It only took me a few decades to realize it, but I eventually got to the realization that teaching is a great thing to cement learning.

It turns out that teaching is also a great way to market and to sell. All of your marketing can be teaching. If you can make it so, why wouldn’t you? All of Brendon’s marketing is teaching. Most all of Tony’s marketing is teaching. Most all of Dean’s marketing is teaching. The Science channel app’s content is 100% teaching.

It turns out that people are hungry to learn because most of us realize that learning doesn’t stop with a degree. Learning doesn’t stop once you get the job. Learning just keeps going. This is a good thing. A great thing. You are learning whether you like it or not, so why not like it and be dedicated to it?

Because when you’re dedicated to learning, you become a far better problem solver. You also become more courageous. You also become a better marketing pro, a far improved sales pro, and an exceptional tech pro. You become a better leader.

Help your people morph into someone else.

When we teach the people we seek to serve, we are also transforming them into something new, something they seek to become. If they are willing students ready to study and put in the work, then they seek transformation. They desire to burst through into something new through training and coaching. They desire to become someone else.

We all desire to become someone else. This is the human condition.

Even rock stars and movie stars want to be someone else. No one is exempt. We’re all in this together, this desire to be someone else. Few among us are satisfied with ourselves the way we are. Few of us are satisfied with the current Zeitgeist, with the spirit of the way things are, with the spirit of the times.

We seek improvement. We seek to make things better. The way to do this is through training and education. This is transformation.

What the Gym Trainers Sell. There are no gym regrets. Ever.

Training, education and teaching are the mental equivalent of transforming in the gym. You go to the gym each day to transform you body, mind, emotions and spirit. You go to the gym to harden up, to not be soft in any of the four life quadrants. You go to the gym because you know it is good for you and you’ll never regret going. Ever. Nope. No gym regrets. They don’t happen.

You go to the gym to transform yourself.

You go to the gym because you desire to transform yourself. You don’t want to be the couch potato under persistent house arrest. No. You go to the gym because you want a life filled with energy, health, abundance, positive thinking, longevity and a life well-lived. You go to the gym to set a good example for others and to role model to others. You go to the gym to train, to educate and to teach. You go to the gym to become someone better.

This is what gym trainers sell: transformation. And all the aforementioned, personal benefits that come from getting after it regularly.

Tell stories that incite action.

The best sales and marketing stories are all stories of transformation. If you want to sell somebody something, tell him / her a story about someone similar to them where that person transformed themselves along side you and your brand as their guide. THAT’s a story that sells. THAT’s a story that persuades. THAT’s a story that incites action. Nothing markets and sells and persuades like transformative storytelling. It may be the most important skill that any of us can learn.

I used to be this. Now, I am THIS! Look at me!

We all want to be someone else.
